Lord, if only he would stop…, If only she would not do this anymore, it just irks me when he says…, I just wished she would quit…Grrrrh, she is doing it again. God, things would be so much better if she just wouldn’t be that way, and my, why can’t he just be like …, and on and on, and on.
I am sure so many of us can relate to this; we all have so much that we wished God would just change about our spouses. Sometimes, we even wished someone would just have a counseling session for us, just for the opportunity to whip out the list of changes that God isn’t making on our spouses fast enough. Well, here is your wish come true; we give you the liberty to whip out your list, and after careful consideration of everything about your spouse, write it all out for God to see. (If we were there with you, we would give you a pat on the back for a job well done!)
PLEASE STOP AND DO THIS EXERCISE BEFORE YOU CONTINUE READING.
Are you done? Did you feel liberated? Was it a fun exercise? Are you sure you are done thinking and writing. Make sure you are not lying, remember; liars go to hell. Okay, if you are truthfully done with the exercise, you may continue reading.
Here is what we want you do: look at your list, and at the very end put his/her name on the blank as follows: “______, how I would love for you to change.”
Good job, very well done, applause, applause, applause. Now, YOU CHANGE.
We didn’t mean to make you do all that for nothing, we only wanted to help you realize a simple truth; there is nothing more torturous than waiting for someone else to change, when you can start the change process with yourself.
We pray the grace of God for you as you kick start the change in your home with the person you see in the mirror.
